Shih Tzu

/ˈʃi ˈdzu/
IPA guide

A Shih Tzu is a small dog with long, silky fur. If you're looking for a pup you can carry on an airplane or tuck into a tote bag, you should consider a Shih Tzu!

Shih Tzus are great lap dogs, ideal for apartments and other small spaces. They don't need much exercise, and they are very loyal. The history of these tiny dogs goes all the way back to China's Ming Dynasty, when they were beloved royal pets. The name Shih Tzu means "lion" in Chinese, and these dogs do resemble mythical guardian lions of ancient China, with their long, flowing "manes," broad heads, and short muzzles. Shih Tzus make affectionate companions and are known for their outgoing, playful personalities.
